National History Day in San Diego

The 2017 NHD Theme is "Taking A Stand In History"

It's time for students to begin preparation for this year's National History Day (NHD) Competition which will be held on Saturday February 25, 2017 at the San Diego County Office of Education. Interested students in grades 4-12 should begin the process of selecting and narrowing a topic and looking into sources of information for their research.

Please contact Dr. Jenelle Miller at jenelle@acceleratedacademics.org if you are an at-home learner who would like to participate in a free orientation session to the NHD research process and learn about the competition guidelines. I'd love to arrange a docent tour of the San Diego Public Library for a group of homeschoolers new to the program or schedule a group time at the San Diego History Center for an Archivist Workshop.

Practice excelling at your personal best in an interest topic of your own choosing. Learn to Think Like A Historian, analyze political cartoons and historical photographs, and more. This is an advanced research opportunity that will open doors to your understanding of important issues and historical topics that have influenced people, places and ideas throughout history. I hope you will join Accelerated Academics in this very worthwhile program. Website link: NHD San Diego
